About Anthem and its water

Anthem is a Del Webb master-planned community in Henderson covering about 5,100 acres, and it includes the age-restricted Sun City Anthem. Like the rest of the city, Anthem is served by the City of Henderson.

Henderson’s 2024 Water Quality Report says all of its water traces back to the Colorado River, nearly 90% from Lake Mead and about 10% from a deep groundwater aquifer. Typical hardness is 267 ppm, or 16 grains per gallon, which the report calls very hard. The city notes the minerals are calcium and magnesium and are not a health risk.

Common water problems in Anthem homes

  • White crust on faucets, shower heads, and glass enclosures.
  • Spotty dishes and glassware.
  • Scale inside water heaters and appliances, which our post on scale in pipes explains.
  • Chlorine taste, since Henderson uses free chlorine to disinfect.

Anthem water FAQ

Is a salt-free system the same as a softener?

No. A softener removes hardness minerals. ScalePrep is designed to limit scale without removing them, so you skip salt and regeneration. We will explain which fits your goals after testing.

Can I get just drinking water treatment?

Yes. A reverse osmosis or point-of-use system at the kitchen sink is a simple, compact option.

Is Anthem water safe to drink?

Yes. Henderson reports that the regulated contaminants it detected were within allowable limits. Most residents treat their water for taste and to protect fixtures and appliances.
