Water Quality Of Las Vegas’ Water Softeners

Our classic water softening units operate on ion exchange principles, swapping calcium and magnesium ions in the water for sodium ions. While this process results in soft water, it also increases the sodium content in your water supply.

How Does Anti-scale System Work

Scale Prep’s SP3 Anti-Scale Media was specially developed and manufactured to guard against scale formation and eliminate existing scale from pipes and heat exchange surfaces. This catalytic media prevents scale formation and removes existing scale by converting calcium and magnesium minerals into harmless “Nano” particles. These nano particles flow through plumbing systems without adhering to pipes, fixtures, valves, or heating elements, resulting in 99% scale prevention and removal.

Requirements For Installing

To ensure proper operation, the Scale Prep System should be the last form of water treatment equipment installed, with the exception of an RO unit or POU filter. It is recommended to use a carbon pre-filter for municipal applications, as it reduces the negative effects of high chlorine on the media and lowers levels of iron. Note that you must change your carbon filter regularly to maintain proper flow rates.

Avoid applying phosphates or any other anti-scalents before or after the Scale Prep System. These systems should also have an adequate freeboard and use a Spider Flexible Hub and Lateral for proper fluidization. Scale Prep Systems operate in UPFLOW mode only, with tank connections typically opposite from the standard downflow configuration. Lastly, ensure you use a flow restrictor sized correctly for the tank and water flow.
